Beijing Mobile Launches TD-SCDMA Wireless Wireline Service

Beijing Mobile has launched a TD-SCDMA wireless wireline service. According to the company's 10086 information hotline, Beijing Mobile is currently selling three TD-SCDMA wireless wireline handset models, two priced at RMB 560 and a third at RMB 500. The phones require no monthly equipment rental fee (i.e. line fee), and offer local calling at RMB 0.12 per minute and long-distance calling at RMB 0.22 per minute.

Rival Beijing Unicom currently controls the Beijing fixed-line market, with a monthly equipment fee of RMB 21.60 per line and local calling of RMB 0.22 for the first 3 minutes and RMB 0.11 per minute thereafter.
