Yulong Launches 3G Application Store

Sohu IT, 6/16/09

Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Yulong recently launched a 3G handset application store, Coolmart, which provides customers with downloadable resources including e-books, films, music, software, flash applications, and images. Gu Yong, brand marketing director for the Yulong Coolpad handset brand, stated that since Coolmart is still in the commercial trial phase, it is currently available as a free service. At present Coolmart is only in use for the Coolpad N900 handset, but Coolpad will scale the service to cover most of its future 3G handsets.

Gu stated that Coolpad will intensify Coolmart research and development efforts and will consider the iPhone "App Store" as an example of a successful and profitable model when developing an appropriate revenue sharing approach that will attract large numbers of third-party developers. According to Gu, details regarding profit sharing have not been finalized and will be confirmed after obtaining market feedback.
