Rumor: The9 President to Resign

Media reports are claiming that The9 (Nasdaq: NCTY) president Chen Xiaowei will step down in the near future. A source inside the gaming company said they hadn't heard any word of Chen stepping down, and that there appeared to be no moves in that direction by Chen or her team. Responsibility for the company's technology department, however, has been turned over to VP for technical operations Jiang Huanxin. Some staff members have already left the Atlantica team; their positions will be filled by employees from the Shanghai headquarters, quite possibly from the former World of Warcraft operations team. Marketing staff for Atlantica has not come to work for several days, and sources inside the company guessed that they may have left their positions.

A source inside The9 revealed that the company's Beijing subsidiary will take over operation of Huxley, a game The9 has long kept shelved.
