Lenovo to Ramp Up Indian Market Expansion

Xinhuanet, 7/14/09

Confronted by the continuing influence of the 2008 international financial crisis, Yang Yuanqing, CEO of PC and consumer electronics manufacturer Lenovo Group (0992.HK), said the company will aggressively expand it's market in India during a July 14 management team visit to India's financial center, Mumbai. During a press conference the same day, Yang also said that Lenovo is restructuring its entire global business, splitting into two businesses, one for developed markets and one for emerging markets.

Lenovo views emerging markets as having enormous potential, and believes it can leverage its experience in the domestic China market to advance in other emerging markets, with India one of its primary targets. Lenovo India managing director Amar Babu said this year Lenovo will expand its India sales network from 100 cities to over 300.
