Fujian Tech Firm to Establish Taiwan Subsidiary

Yangcheng Evening News, 7/30/09

Fujian Newland Science & Technology Group subsidiary Newland Computer (000997.SZ) has been officially approved by China's Ministry of Commerce to set up its own subsidiary in Taiwan, thereby becoming the first mainland company to invest in Taiwan.

In June, Newland Computer spent EUR 280,000 to purchase a 58% stake in Digit Professional Asia's Taiwan branch from Dutch firm Sliedrecht Investments Holding B.V., renaming Digit to "Taiwan Newland Co. Ltd." After obtaining permission to incorporate in July, the new company will primarily focus on marketing and sales of data acquisition systems, as well as financial payment and finance-related products in the Taiwan, Southeast Asia and global markets.
