Tianma Microelectronics Makes Offer on SVA 5G Production Line

Shenzhen-based Tianma Microelectronics (000050.SZ) is currently in talks with its subsidiary Shanghai Tianma Microelectronics to purchase SVA's (600637.SH) 5G LCD panel production line. The company has already evaluated SVA's 5G line and submitted a "very sincere bid," according to a source inside Shenzhen Tianma.
Last year, Shenzhen Tianma invested RMB 3 bln in a 4.5G production line in Chengdu in October, and RMB 4 bln in its 4.5G production line in Wuhan in November. The source at Tianma said that the Chengdu 4.5G line is set to begin large-capacity production in the middle of next year, and that the Wuhan line will begin production at the end of next year.
The source revealed that BOE (000725.SZ), the Irico Group (0438.HK), and other upstream manufacturers were also interested in SVA's 5G line, and said that companies' chances of winning their bids would be partially dependent on the bid amount. Spokespeople for BOE and Irico have not confirmed their interest in the purchase.
