Warner Sues Wanlida for Music Copyright Infringement

Warner Asia (Beijing) has brought a copyright infringement suit against Chinese manufacturer Wanlida (002180.SZ), owner of the Malata consumer electronics brand, for unauthorized packaging or in-machine embedding of music from the group F.I.R. with its DVD players. The record label is asking the court to order Wanlida to cease all infringing behavior, and seeking compensation of nearly RMB 400,000. The Dongcheng District People's Court in Beijing has accepted the case.
