DCCI: China H1 2009 Search Engine Revenues Increase 30% YoY

Figures from the Data Center of the Chinese Internet (DCCI) have revealed search marketing revenues of RMB 2.93 bln for H1 2009, up 29.9% YoY. DCCI predicts total 2009 search engine revenues to reach RMB 7.15 bln, up 40.7% from 2008.

DCCI Netmonitor 2009 monitoring figures show that during H1 2009 average monthly audience reach (i.e. number of users surveyed who said that during H1 2009, they had used a specified search engine) for search engine sites broke down to 88.1% for Chinese search engine Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU), 47.4% for Google China, 46.0% for Chinese online value-added services provider Tencent's (0700.HK) Soso search engine, and 21.9% for Chinese portal Sohu's (Nasdaq: SOHU) Sogou search engine. Baidu accounted for an average 81.9% of the market by average number of searches per month, followed by Google China (6.7%), Tencent Soso (5.4%), Sogou (2.3%), Microsoft Live/Bing (0.2%), and other search engines combining for the remaining 3.5%.
