Rumor: Netease Receives GAPP Notice

YXNPC, 11/10/09

An industry source has reported that Chinese internet company and game operator Netease (Nasdaq: NTES) has received a notice from the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) rejecting its application to operate World of Warcraft. Under regulations, Netease is required to respond following its receipt of the notice.

On November 4, Netease spokesperson Li Jia said the company had not yet received any notification from GAPP. When asked about the new report, a spokesperson for Netease declined to respond.
