Spreadtrum Records Q3 2009 Net Profit of USD 600K

Chinese wireless baseband chipset provider Spreadtrum Communications (Nasdaq: SPRD) has announced its unaudited financial results for Q3 2009, with total revenues reaching USD 38.4 mln, up 92% YoY and 137% QoQ, exceeding the company's previous guidance of USD 31-36 mln.

Net income for the quarter came to USD 0.6 mln, compared with net income of USD 31.3 mln in Q3 2008 and a net loss of USD 13.1 mln in Q2 2009.

In Q3 2009, revenue from baseband and RF semiconductors was up 103.7% YoY and 137.9% QoQ to USD 38.3 mln. Unit shipments of baseband and RF semiconductors grew 295% YoY and 153% QoQ.

The company estimates Q4 2009 revenue will be in the range of USD 37 mln to USD 40 mln.
