China to Complete Nationwide CMMB Simulcryption by Year-End

Cheng Xuan, GM of CMMB mobile TV operator China Broadcasting Corporation's (CBC) technology division, has revealed that nationwide CMMB simulcryption, which CBC began at the end of September, is already 33% complete, and is expected to be finished by year's end. The simulcryption will see the addition of conditional access systems (CAS) from Beijing Novel-Super Digital TV Technology, a subsidiary of China Digital TV Holding (NYSE: STV), to the existing CAS from Swiss provider Nagravision (Kudelski Group).
