Shanghai IPTV Subscribers Reach 1 Mln

The number of Shanghai Telecom IPTV subscribers broke 1 mln today. Around 70% of Shanghai Telecom subscribers are active users of the service at present.

Outside Shanghai, the number of IPTV subscribers recently broke 600,000 in Jiangsu and Guangdong provinces.

Following is an overview of commercial IPTV development in Shanghai:

October 2006: IPTV service becomes commercially available throughout the municipality.

December 31, 2006: The number of IPTV subscribers totals 70,000.

December 31, 2007: The number of IPTV subscribers totals 227,000.

December 31, 2008: The number of IPTV subscribers totals 745,000.

December 2, 2009: The number of IPTV subscribers reaches 1 mln.
