Chongqing Begins Stage 2 of Cuncuntong DBS Project

The Chongqing Radio and Television Group has begun the second phase of the Cuncuntong direct-broadcast satellite (DBS) rural connectivity project. The second-round of the Cuncuntong project covers 441,800 rural residents in over 20,000 natural villages across 15 districts, and is expected to be completed before October 2010, resolving reception problems for approximately 450,000 residents of remote rural areas. Chongqing's Administration of Culture, Radio and Television signed a DBS receiver procurement contract today with Nanjing Panda Electronics (600775.SH; 0553.HK), Fujian Shenzhou Electronic and Qingdao Hisense Electric (600060.SH) for RMB 160 mln worth of DBS receivers.
