China Unicom: 100K iPhones Sold in 40 Days

Sohu IT, 12/09/09

China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) has recorded over 100,000 iPhones sold since the smartphone debuted in China forty days ago on October 30. Both Unicom and handset procurement subsidiary Unicom Huasheng Telecommunications Technology confirmed the news.

China Unicom said earlier reports that the operator had signed a three-year deal with Apple for 5 mln iPhones were not entirely accurate, but declined to provide any correct figures.

CEO Chang Xiaobing divulged that China Unicom has already begun to analyze iPhone sales data and may change its marketing strategy accordingly.
