Founder, Zhangjiang Form Digital Publishing Base

Chinese computer and electronics maker Founder Technology Group (600601.SH) has announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with the Shanghai-based Zhangjiang Publishing Group to take part in establishing the Zhangjiang National Digital Publishing Base. The two companies will invest a total of RMB 285 mln, of which RMB 100 mln will come from Zhangjiang.

Founder revealed that the two companies' joint efforts will include mobile e-book reader R&D, e-book portal operations, and digital multiformat publishing technology projects.

The Zhangjiang National Digital Publishing Base was chosen by the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) and the Shanghai municipal government in 2008 to be the first national-level digital publishing base. The base already houses over 140 enterprises, with businesses spanning online gaming, animation, digital music, and e-books.

Founder says it has signed agreements with 95% of publishers nationwide and nearly 400 periodical groups, and offers more than 500,000 digital book titles.
