Ku6 to Spin Off Hulu Clone, Block Film & TV Uploads

Founder and CEO Kevin Li (Li Shanyou) has announced that Chinese online video sharing website Ku6 will split into two websites, one offering short videos and the other providing HD video content. Li did not rule out the possibility that the two websites will be operated independently and have separate domain names. Li said the HD website would follow the Hulu.com model and broadcast only legal copyrighted content. The short video platform, in turn, will no longer permit users to upload film or television content.
