Youku to Raise 2010 Ad Prices

Sina Tech, 12/15/09

Wei Ming, VP of Beijing-based online video sharing platform Youku, said that although per-unit bandwidth costs appear to be falling, current revenues are still insufficient to offset bandwidth costs. Wei revealed that Youku is currently working out next year's ad pricing. Certain front-page ad positions are already reserved until April or May of next year, and a portion of ad position prices will increase at least 20-30%. According to Wei, Youku currently has over 300 advertisers, among which the three most important industries are fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), IT, and automobiles.
