China's MIIT, SARFT to Support Internet TV

Netease Tech, 12/18/09

Over three months after the China Video Industry Association (CVIA) presented a proposal regarding the development of Internet TV, China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) began discussing the matter with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) yesterday.

A source close to the talks said the outcome was "very positive."

Xiao Hua, head of MIIT's IT Industry Department, said that the development of Internet TV sets by Chinese manufacturers early this year appeals to the domestic consumer market, is in keeping with China's spirit of innovation, and provides Chinese firms with a vital competitive edge.
