China’s 2009 Flat Panel TV Market Hits 20 Mln Sets

The China Electronics Chamber of Commerce (CECC) released a report on the China TV set market yesterday, showing that domestic demand for flat-panel TV sets in 2009 will reach 20 mln units, up 64% YoY, and is expected to reach 26 mln units in 2010. Of flat-panel TV set demand in 2009, LED TV set demand accounted for nearly 1 mln units or 5%, and is expected to increase 300% next year to 4 mln units.

Pan Zhifeng, general manager at the Skyworth’s (0751.HK) Beijing branch, said yesterday that Skyworth already regards LED TV sets as the centerpiece of their product strategy, and plans to release three new lines of LED TV products next year. Skyworth expects LED sales volume to match that of LCD sales volume next year.
