PPLive: Profit by 2010, IPO in 2-3 Years

Sina Tech, 12/30/09

Vincent Tao, CEO of Chinese P2P online video site PPLive, has said in an interview with foreign media that he expects the company will become profitable by the end of 2010, and that the company is planning a Nasdaq listing in 2011 or 2012. Tao said that PPLive boasts 145 mln registered users and over 45 mln active users each month.

Tao stated that the company's income is mainly derived from advertising, and that PPLive plans to add pay-per-view services next year. Tao also revealed that, with the hastened growth of China's online video advertising market, PPLive's operating revenue for 2009 more than doubled over the previous year. Tao said he expects growth trends to continue in the short term, although he declined to reveal precise revenue figures.
