Photos Leaked of China Telecom BlackBerry

Sohu IT, 2/02/10

Images from internal tests of China Telecom's (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) customized BlackBerry Storm 9530 have leaked. According to the leaked information, the handset will sport a China Telecom e-Surfing logo, and support UCS-2-encoded Chinese language SMS. China Telecom sources have also revealed that the first batch of BlackBerry 9530, 9550, and 9630 handsets will have a hardwired number rather than a UIM card. China Telecom has internally confirmed that it will make BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) and BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) service available, for which the operator is expected to set fees at approximately RMB 80 and RMB 450, respectively.

Editor's Note: Research in Motion signed a deal for China Telecom to become a BlackBerry partner operator in December; see "China Telecom, RIM Sign BlackBerry Deal," MD 12/21/2009 issue.
