Guangdong Details TV Network Consolidation Plan

The provincial-level cable television network company to be formed by the early-March restructuring of Guangdong province's local cable networks will be officially established by June, and will complete all restructuring by the end of the year. After restructuring is completed, the new provincial-level network company will have an estimated 15 mln subscribers and annual revenues of more than RMB 5 bln, making it China's largest provincial cable network.
Guangdong provincial authorities have released a three-step strategy for the province's network consolidation. All municipal-level network assets (other than those in the cities of Shenzhen and Guangzhou) will be evaluated in order to determine respective shares in the future network company; next, Guangzhou's cable network assets will be added, with the Guangzhou Digital Media Group to become the Guangzhou branch of the provincial network company. Finally, the listed Shenzhen-based cable operator Topway Video Communication (002238.SZ) will join the provincial cable network company "in an appropriate fashion."
