China Mobile to Offer Trade-Ins for Early TD-SCDMA Handsets

CCID, 3/12/10

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) deputy GM Li Yue said at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's (MIIT) 2010 Communication Services Conference currently underway in Beijing that China Mobile will offer "special care" or trade-in services this year for users who purchased defective TD-SCDMA data cards, netbooks, or any of the earlier and less refined TD-SCDMA handset products.

Editor's Note: One of China Mobile's major obstacles to smooth TD-SCDMA development in 2009 was an immature terminal market; many handsets suffered from overheating and short battery life, and lacked refined feature sets available in similar 2G models.
