SARFT Cracks Down on Direct-Broadcast Satellite Products

The Department of Science and Technology at China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has issued a notice to relevant companies requiring inspections of direct broadcast satellite TV demodulator chips and set-top boxes, and has ordered companies to cease production and sales of illegal chips and set-top boxes. SARFT has also released a list forbidding production and sales of more than 50 products.

The list of chips and set-top boxes required to cease production and sales, which was posted on SARFT's website, includes 11 chips made by Availink, NationalChip, Haier (Beijing) IC Design Company, Montage Technology, and Goke Technologies, as well as 44 set-top box models produced by 28 companies including Haier and Coship Electronics (002052.SZ).
