Rumor: Sichuan Mobile Data GM Disappears in Investigation

Li Xiangdong, head of China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) wireless music base and GM of Sichuan Mobile's data department, has reportedly gone missing, and former Sichuan Mobile construction center GM Chen Jianji has been appointed as his replacement as data department GM. According to unconfirmed reports, the data departments of China's three telecom operators and their service provider (SP) partners have become the focus of an upcoming investigation by China's National Audit Office. Data department heads at some operators allegedly abused their authority by participating in SP operations, investing in or owning shares in SPs.
