Rumor: Sina Acquires Mobile Download Client Developer

Sohu IT, 4/15/10

An informed source has revealed that Chinese online media company and wireless value-added service provider Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) has quietly acquired mobile phone download client developer 1000CHI Software Technology for RMB 300 mln. Sina initially made an investment in 1000CHI last year. A source inside 1000CHI confirmed Sina's investment in the company. Sina has not yet commented on the matter.

1000CHI was established in January 2008, and specializes in wireless internet products and services, while mobile downloading is its primary business. 1000CHI has established a strong partnership with Nokia; as Nokia's official download tool, the software comes pre-installed on Nokia's full line of mobile phones.
