Kingsoft Announces Security Software Subsidiary

Chinese software firm Kingsoft (3888.HK) has announced the establishment of Beijing Kingsoft Security Software Co., Ltd., as well as the release of cloud computing-based anti-virus software Kingsoft Internet Security 2011.

Kingsoft Security has two core strategies, namely, to become a full-scale Internet company, and to develop authentic cloud security systems.

According to Kingsoft's 2009 annual report, Internet security software contributed RMB 260 mln, or 79% of total revenue from the applications software unit (RMB 330 mln).
