Chinese WAP Site 3G.cn Still Relies on Ad Revenue

Sohu IT, 4/15/10

President Zhang Xiangdong of Chinese WAP portal 3G.cn said that most of the company's revenue still comes from advertising, and was in the nine-digit range last year. Zhang said he feels that ideally, advertising should account for one-third of total revenues in the future.

The company also released version 1.4 of its GO mobile browser, with added support for direct broadcasts from mobile video providers Joy.cn, Tudou and Xinhua Mobile TV. The update also adds support for browser plugins for services such as SNS sites and games.

Since its release on June 23 last year, the GO browser has reached 15 mln users.
