Lenovo: Acquisition is Low Priority

Oriental Morning Post, 5/06/10

Lenovo (0992.HK) CEO Yang Yuanqing recently said in Shanghai that the first step of handset maker Lenovo Mobile's internet strategy will be to "plant its feet firmly" in the China market, and that at this stage acquisitions are not the company's highest priority. Yang said that within the next one to two weeks, Lenovo will clarify its business model to the public.

Editor's Note: Lenovo had outlined its acquisition strategy in mid-March, and was rumored to be the sole remaining bidder for U.S. handset maker Palm; see "Lenovo CEO Outlines Acquisition Strategy," MD 3/15/10 and "Rumor: HTC Drops Palm Bid," MD 4/23/10 issues.
