Shanghai Mobile Gives Away TD-SCDMA Wireless Wireline Phones

According to Shanghai Mobile's website, the operator launched a new promotion on May 28 under which subscribers who make a one-time purchase of RMB 300 in calling credit can receive RMB 120 or RMB 150 of free additional talk time, as well as a "G3 home mobile phone" and a corresponding phone number. The pre-paid and awarded calling credit will be paid into users' phone account balances over a 12-month period, under the condition that they use their G3 home mobile phone each month.
Editor's Note: The "G3 home mobile phone" is a wireless wireline TD-SCDMA terminal. Wireless wireline phones have comprised a significant portion - roughly 35% - of total TD-SCDMA terminals sold by the operator through mid-April.
