Perfect World Downsizes Channel Development Workforce

Chinese online game developer and operator Perfect World (Nasdaq: PWRD) has reportedly laid off 90% of its channel promotion workforce, or nearly 3,000 people, with no official written notice. The highest severance packages came to RMB 1,300, with the average above RMB 1,000.
Perfect World responded to the rumors by saying it is currently overhauling its channel distribution system which covers more than 240 cities, and that making staff cuts in some cities is part of normal operations.
