State Council Approves Network Convergence Trials Plan

Eeo.com.cn, 6/07/10

According to China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), the sixth draft of a network convergence trials plan has finally been approved by the State Council's leading committee on national network convergence.

According to the committee, implementation plans at the city level are to be put in place by June 15, with actual work to begin on June 28.

The final draft grants SARFT exclusive authority over audiovisual programming broadcast rights. China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) will convene a ministry-level leadership meeting on June 8 to discuss and deploy the new plan.
