Taobao Launches Free Shipping Campaign

Chinese B2C and C2C e-commerce site Taobao launched a new "free storage and shipping" campaign today under which all eligible products will be shipped through Taobao's own logistics center.
Seventy vendors are participating in the "free storage and shipping" promotion, with products including small household appliances, home furnishings, clothing, shoes, bags, other accessories, and food products - approximately 150,000 products in all. Orders for products covered by the promotion will be eligible not only for free shipping, but also for delivery in a single large package, as opposed to multiple smaller packages, if customers pay for their order within two hours.
Taobao says that the promotion is connected to the company's secret preparations for logistics systems, and is not a simple one-time event. The company has already established the first batch of "Taobao Warehouses" in major urban centers of online shopping. All products covered by the promotion will be shipped from one of the new warehouses.
