AUO Invests RMB 1 Bln to Build Hefei Factory

Taiwanese TFT-LCD display manufacturer AU Optronics (AUO) held a foundation stone laying ceremony for its factory in Hefei on June 29, according to Taiwanese reports. The facility, which is expected to launch production in May 2011, will see a total investment of RMB 1.05 bln, and employ 5,000 workers.
AUO's Hefei plant will mainly produce 32-inch LCD modules and TVs, with a monthly capacity of 400,000 LCD TV sets. Once complete, the facility will become AUO's largest base in East China.
