GAPP Establishes Project Team for E-Book Standards

At a launch ceremony held in Beijing on July 7, the Department of Technology and Digital Publishing of China's General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) established an "E-Book (Content) Standards Project Team" and announced that relevant e-book standards would be drawn up in the near future.

Zhang Yijun, head of the Department, said that the new project team will be responsible for drafting the standards, which will cover fundamental areas including systems, terminology, and classification; set product standards for content quality, typesetting, and service platforms; set procedural standards covering content quality review, distribution statistic collecting, and workflow control; and establish entry/exit management mechanisms for the e-book industry.
