Chinese Microblog Zuosa Up for Sale

Tencent Tech, 7/21/10

Alex Mou, CEO of Chinese microblogging site Zuosa, has confirmed that management has resolved to sell Zuosa due to lack of funds.

Mou revealed that the site has several tens of thousands of daily active users. Mou said that the Zuosa team could earn revenue by outsourcing microblogging services to other sites, but that this service has just begun, and currently has few customers.

Mou said that he would not leave immediately after selling Zuosa, and would be willing to help the new owner take over operation of the site for a period of time. When asked about a selling price, Mou said that because there were no former precedents for selling a microblog site in China, he did not have a set price in mind yet, but would need to await further talks with potential buyers.
