China Telecom Launches Mobile Reading Platform

CCTIME, 8/03/10

China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) began operating its e-Surfing mobile reading platform yesterday. In addition to the initial group of content partners, which includes the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP), China Telecom is currently working to bring a second group of partners on board.

Recent reports had said that China Telecom subscribers would be able to log in to the reading platform via WAP, while subscribers to other networks and PC users would be unable to log in. PC users selecting "e-Surfing Reader" when searching the China Telecom site, however, can currently see several titles listed; clicking on these leads to the e-Surfing Reader page.
