Vodafone May Sell Stake in China Mobile

Sina Tech, 8/27/10

Overseas media has reported that Vodafone may sell off its assets in China, as well as Poland and France, to roll back expansion efforts that have left investors dissatisfied. Vodafone's 3.2% stake in China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK), which has doubled in value to USD 7 bln, could be sold as the lock-up period recently ended. Industry sources in China say that Vodafone will have no choice but to sell the shares on the open market, or possibly to one or more institutional investors.
