Legal Evening News, 8/31/10

Beijing's newspaper stand management company has issued a notice to all newsstands in the city to cease selling China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) and China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) SIM cards as of September 1. China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) SIM cards will still be available but newsstand operators will be responsible for collecting genuine photocopies of customers' national ID cards and registering them with the mobile real name system.

The newsstand management company is currently in discussions with the telecom operators on how to handle distribution and management of SIM cards in accordance with the new real name system.
