Rumor: WoW 3rd Expansion Pack Not Due for 1 Year or More

17173.com, 8/31/10

An industry source says that according to Chinese game operator Netease (Nasdaq: NTES) and developer Blizzard's timetable, Netease's operational focus will be on the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack for World of Warcraft, with plans to begin operating Cataclysm, the next expansion pack, a year or more after the launch of Wrath of the Lich King in China.

Blizzard has not yet stated publicly that the mainland China operation rights for Cataclysm will be sold to Netease. The Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Press and Publication said in a set of answers to public questions on its webpage that it has not yet received any application to publish Cataclysm.
