Shanda Online Developer Platform to Open in September

Zhu Jing, CTO of Shanda Interactive's (Nasdaq: SNDA) online game payment and service platform, Shanda Online (SDO), announced yesterday that SDO will launch the new "Shanxing Plan" - an open platform developer competition - in September. Shanda will use the competition to select outstanding software, and to provide support for developers with cash incentives for winning projects and other forms of support leveraging Shanda's resources.
Shanda's open developer platform went online at the end of August, and is currently aimed primarily at small and mid-sized developers. In addition to providing a free submission system for developers, the platform also offers customer service and payment channel support, as well as mechanisms for sharing information about user preferences.
In addition to offering customer service resources, Zhu said, the platform will also deliver content services including games, online literature, and video, adding that users of the platform are for the most part accustomed to paying for content.
