Rumor: Unicom to Start Sales of 3G iPad October 30

Donews, 10/18/10

China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) reportedly plans to begin selling the 3G iPad on October 30. Distribution to provincial branches has already begun, and the only obstacle remaining is for China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) to issue a network access permit. An application has already been filed for the permit and a result is expected next week. Unicom will offer the same 3G bundled contract plan as the iPhone 4. Apple China will simultaneously sell a contractless version at an estimated retail price of RMB 4,988.
