SARFT Director Arrested by Anti-Corruption Investigators

Yang Peihong, head of the online department of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television's (SARFT) Office for the Administration of Media Institutions, was investigated by the Beijing Xicheng Procuratorate's anti-corruption office on October 18, and she was arrested the following day. The online department is a key organ in the Online Audio-Visual Broadcasting License issuing process, responsible for approving and managing content for network audiovisual programming (including IPTV, online broadcast TV, and mobile audiovisual programming); approving cable TV VOD businesses; and monitoring and supervising mobile TV and mobile digital multimedia broadcasting.
