Kingsoft Kuaikuai Unveils "Game World" Client

Online game developer and operator Kingsoft (3888.HK) held a press conference yesterday at its headquarters to officially unveil its Kuaikuai Game World product, which was hailed as a "fully-functional game console for the PC." The Game World software client instantly delivers a wide variety of games from the Kingsoft Kuaikuai platform, including stand-alone, online and shooter games for the PC, and also console games via software emulation. The release version of the software is version 1.0, and has a 6 MB installer package.
The Kingsoft Kuaikauai development team was formed from core members of the Kingsoft word processing team. By integrating app-streaming and client virtualization technologies, the product allows users to play games as they are downloading, resulting in instant "click-to-play" functionality. In a demonstration at the press conference, users were able to enter the online game "Legend of Moon" after downloading a few hundred MB of data. Without Game World, users would have to download and install the conventional 2.3 GB "Legend of Moon" client, potentially waiting hours before commencing play.
Currently, the Kuaikuai Game World platform has over 40,000 games to choose from, covering all major PC gaming genres and categories.
