MSN China Sees Jump in New Users from QQ

Pcpop, 11/08/10

A spokesperson for MSN China has announced that new user registrations have increased significantly, with browsing and downloading of MSN products up in the double digits.

MSN recently released a function that allows users to invite their friends from QQ Instant Messenger. MSN also released a webpage that allows users to invite friends from other instant messaging platforms. The MSN representative said that the function was launched over a year ago, but there has been a surge of QQ accounts transferred to MSN and the function is now receiving more attention.

Editor's Note: Sohu IT has reported that MSN China's QQ invitation feature was recently blocked by Tencent (0700.HK). The surge in MSN China accounts comes on the heels of recent accusations by anti-virus firm Qihoo 360 that Tencent's QQ Instant Messenger was scanning documents on users' computers that were not related to its chat services.
