China Unicom Continues to Face iPhone 4 Shortages

CCTIME, 11/11/10

Visits to retail outlets yesterday revealed that only China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) service centers are receiving new shipments of the iPhone 4, and that consumer electronics retailer Suning (002024.SZ) was still waiting for back-orders. Employees at China Unicom service centers said that customers would only be able to purchase the iPhone 4 by pre-ordering. Earlier media reports had said that 3C e-commerce retailer 360Buy would begin selling the iPhone 4 at the start of November, but to date the phone has yet to go on sale. A customer service representative for 360Buy said that owing to low iPhone 4 stocks, the site has no plans to sell the iPhone 4 in the near future, and that pre-orders for the phone have been canceled.
