Chinese Government to Set Gaming Industry Standards

The China National Information Technology Standardization Technical Committee has announced that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the Ministry of Culture will be jointly approving the establishment of a game standards working group this December, to organize and establish national industry standards relevant to the gaming industry.

The secretary of the new working group, a senior official in the China Electrics Standardization Institute, explained that the working group would research and establish national standards regarding game types, game coding, game consoles, game quality evaluation grading, and other aspects of the industry. At the same time, the institute would carry out research on national standards for online gaming, mobile gaming, and web gaming as well as animation and other related industries.
