Netease Updates Social Networking Platform

Chinese internet company Netease (Nasdaq: NTES) announced today that it had launched a new version of its SNS platform Menghuan Rensheng ("Dream Life").

Menghuan Rensheng (dream.163.com) does not require users to register using their real names, focusing more on virtual relationships than real-world relationships.

The SNS service features blogs, photo albums, discussion forums, videos, and a "Garden" feature, and already hosts more than 20 SNS apps and games including "Dream Village" and "Car Factory." The service is also gradually moving towards one-touch integration for users of Netease's blog, photo album, microblogging, and mail services.

Product GM Zhu Yiwen said that after growing the service to an "appreciable" number of users over the past half-year, Netease is considering developing in the direction of more browser games for the service.
