Rumor: China Unicom to Launch New 3G Packages

Netease Tech, 12/06/10

A source inside China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) said today that the operator plans to release a new basic 'C' series of subscription plans for local 3G users in the near future. This will be the operator's third category of subscription plans, in addition to the existing A and B categories. Subscribers who have a greater need for mobile 3G data than for voice services can choose one of the A series plans; those with roughly equivalent needs for voice and data services, one of the B series plans. Users who only need local calling services and internet access will have the option of choosing one of the C plans.

Pricing details for the C series of plans have yet to be determined.
