Shanda's Sunshine Media Sues 56.com

Sunshine Media, the video licensing and distribution subsidiary of Chinese internet company Shanda Interactive (Nasdaq: SNDA), said today that it plans to bring suit against Chinese SNS 56.com over unauthorized repostings and rebroadcasts of 148 television series and films to which Sunshine Media owns exclusive online rights.

A spokesperson for Sunshine Media's legal department said that the company had collected evidence and notarized it in preparation for a lawsuit in the near future. The spokesperson estimated that Sunshine Media would seek damages of more than RMB 10 mln.
